Happy birthday – you’re 13!

My niece turned 13 the other day and we’ll be celebrating tomorrow. I made her a card today and even decorated the inside with a photo collage of Instagram photos of her and her pony (she’s an eager show jumper!). I also added two 4×6 photos and attached them using a speech bubble paper clip.

I finally got to use the LARGE Pink Paislee numbers! I’ve been hoarding these for quite some time!

I would also like to take the opportunity to remind everyone of the Scrap365 blog hop this week. We’ll start off on the 18th and continue through the entire week!

The new issue will be on sale this week, but I have had word subscribers are already receiving their…! To entice you further, I have two projects in this issue. The first is on the cover…

Three New Projects

Hello! It’s Saturday!

My second post in December for Scrappin Studio has been up for almost a week, so I thought I’d share the projects here as well.  All of these projects were made using Studio Calico’s December kits.

I’d like to start off with a layout with a photo of what greeted me when I came home one day. My husband loves his motorcycles and this year, since we’ve moved into a new house and he wants to take really good care of them, he carefully moved his favorite bike into his little den on the first floor…

On this layout I used the gold glitter paper to cut out a title using my Silhouette. The font is called Nova Solid.

I used a paper doily as a journaling spot (looks like this is starting to become one of my staples!)

The second layout is a scraplift of Tina Azimus’ layout by the same title. I really like doing layouts like this to pick some of the highlights of the year that’s passed.

side 378 - Sweet happy memories (Scrappin Studio)

On this layout, I’ve included photos from the entire year: My in-laws’ 50th birthday party, when I was offered a permanent teaching position, the trip we took on the motorcycle last summer, his sister’s wedding, my trip to Krakow, my friend’s wedding, our cats and general everyday photos.

My last project is a card lift. I really loved the card Emily Pitts made for Simple Stories and wanted to make something similar. For this card I used the Murray Hill add-on (B-side of the camera paper from KI Memories, as well as the alphabet stickers and fantastic smile washi tape from the same brand).

hello card (Scrappin Studio)

Normally I’m not a card maker, but simple cards like this works for me!

That’s it from me for this time. I’ve loved this chance of working with the gorgeous Studio Calico kits for Scrappin Studio. Jaime, thanks for having me guest twices this year. It’s been an absolute pleasure!

A card

Hey, all!

I hope you’re having a good weekend. Me, I’ve had a great weekend, with friends visiting on Friday and today, celebrating midsummer’s last night with my family. We’ve bought lots of strawberries, so we’re currently working our way through those.

I thought I’d share a card I made for a colleague who won’t be working with us next year. We wanted to give her something, so one of the other teachers bought her a nice shower oil and I made a card.

I used these Silhouette shapes and papers from Heidi Swapp. I love using doilies (still), and think the card turned out great!

Also, I’ve got a few layouts I haven’t had the chance to share yet, so check back tomorrow :)

A Christmas card and a tag!

On December 1st, Scrapshop revealed the DTs take on the November challenge: To create a Christmas card or tag. I thought I’d share mine here. The first, the tag, was from Authentique’s Holiday collection Wonder. I also used some of the new Maya Road snowflakes on top of a misted area. Text with a broad grey marker and thin black pen.

For the card I used some of the new Maya Road kraft snowflakes. Spotted this in the store and fell in love! The image is Scrapshop’s own Juleengler. I’ve also used some Prima flowers, a Tim Holtz tag, twine and Jenni Bowling alphas (not present in the online store, but bought at Scapshop earlier). Background paper is an old holiday paper and a paper doily.

Happy birthday

We’re going to a birthday later today, so I made a card. Kraft background, patterned paper from Studio Calico, Sew Easy banner pattern, Sew Easy floss, toothpick with pin-wheel made with patterned paper from the Girls’ Paperie, Mini Market alpha stickers from October Afternoon, and sticker from Sassafras Lass.

Big update

Two weeks since I updated, so I have a bit to show. The first is a lift I did for Gutter Girlz’ prompt #38. I had so much trouble figuring out what to make this month. I pondered about it for a long time before interpreting the prompt my way. Leaving fingerprints is one way to show that you’ve been here, but it can also mean you touched something, your way. There’s a saying that everything has been thought of before, and that art is merely copying someone else’s work, but doing it your way. I thought that leaving fingerprints could be a metaphor for this, so I decided to scraplift, as I happened upon the same die-cut paper. I had falled in love with a layout by Kaori, and wanted to “leave my mark”. It also gave me the chance to play around with Maya Mists.

But I also wanted to make something, from scratch, so I made another layout as well. This is just playing around with Hambly screenprints and papers from Studio Calico…

Then, Scrapshop’s July challenge: Use an advertisement as inspiration. Patterned Paper from Webster’s pages, some vellum, same brand, paper frame from Kort og Godt, Jenni Bowlin butterfly and tiny alpha stickers from Making Memories.

My layout n0. 120. Not sure if this is done yet. If you have some input, please comment! Patterned Paper from Studio Calico and American Crafts, screen print from Hambly, canvas flowers from Jillibean Soup, button from Jenni Bowlin, alphas from The Girls’ Paperie, journaling card from Studio Calico.

Finally got around to making my first easel card. So much easier than I thought! This one is lifted from Elisabeth, another Scrapshop employee. Patterned Paper from Fancy Pants and Graphic 45.

Thanks for looking!

Copy+paste from Scrapshopbloggen

Kopierer posten jeg nettopp la ut på Scrapshopbloggen, jeg – men ta gjerne turen innom der også for produktnyheter og generelle oppdatering på salg og lignende.

Min første post her på Scrapshopbloggen – endelig ;)

Husk ekstra lang åpningstid i morgen, fredag, og lørdag!

Håper vi ses!

Thank you

One of the teachers we’ve had this semester has simply been wonderful. So much energy, so many interesting lectures (I think everyone became interested in city planning after her class), many guest lecturers, and, well… Her effort comes across in our grades. For both classes she taught this semester, the grades are simply amazing. And with the control of external censors, I believe them to be correct and well earned, too. I know I have worked very hard this semester…

So I asked my fellow students if it would be appropriate to make her a card (you see, we have our own private Facebook page). Those who have seen the message has replied that it’s a great idea. So, on behalf of “all of us”, I’ve made a card based on this week’s sketch from 2 sketches 4 you. The papers are from Kaiser Crafts, the Tea at Elsie’s collection. The doily is very much inspired by Christine’s Embellished paper Doily project, part eight (simply amazing – go check it out!). The sentiment is/was a Xmas tree decoration I got in December with cards in mind.
